Jobs and classes
Jobs and classes
Which classes are open on Project Ragnarok Online, which are waiting on an episode, and why.
Jobs and classes
13 classes are open right now: Novice, the six first jobs, and one second-job path from each of them. Everything else is waiting for the episode that introduced it.
Base level caps at 99. Job level caps at 50 for first and second classes, and at 10 for Novice.
The paths you can take
| First job | Becomes | What it plays like |
|---|---|---|
| Thief | Assassin | Katars, poison, and a blade nobody sees coming. Two weapons at once. |
| Merchant | Blacksmith | Forges and refines weapons, then swings an axe with them. Makes money as well as gear. |
| Archer | Hunter | Traps, a trained falcon, and arrows that land from further away than anything else. |
| Swordman | Knight | Heavy armour, a spear or a two-handed sword, and a Peco Peco to ride. The front line. |
| Acolyte | Priest | Heals, blessings, and bringing the fallen back up. Every party wants one. |
| Mage | Wizard | Storms, meteors and walls of fire that clear a whole screen at once. Fragile up close. |
All six first jobs are open: Swordman, Mage, Archer, Acolyte, Merchant, Thief. Every character starts as a Novice.
Not open yet
The second branch of second jobs is closed. Their job changers are switched off, so you cannot take these paths no matter what level you reach. Plan around that rather than levelling toward one.
| Alchemist | from Merchant, arrives with Juno |
|---|---|
| Bard | from Archer, arrives with Comodo |
| Crusader | from Swordman, arrives with Juno |
| Dancer | from Archer, arrives with Comodo |
| Monk | from Acolyte, arrives with Juno |
| Rogue | from Thief, arrives with Juno |
| Sage | from Mage, arrives with Juno |
Beyond those: all thirteen Transcendent classes wait for Rebirth, and Super Novice, Ninja, Gunslinger, TaeKwon, Star Gladiator and Soul Linker come later still. None of them can be reached today.
How to change job
The original way, through the job quests. There is no job changer NPC, and there is no free reset: pRO deliberately leaves out the eleven convenience NPCs that ship with the server software. A Reset Stone, from the Cash Shop or Rachel's Favor Shop, is the only stat reset, and it does not change your job.
Reach job level 40 or higher as a first job before you change, if you can. Skill points you leave behind are gone, and there is no way to get them back.
Why classes are gated at all
pRO opens at Episode 1 and unlocks content in the order Ragnarok Online originally released it. A class is not missing because it is unfinished; it is closed because its episode has not happened. When Juno opens, five classes open with it, along with the city, its monsters and its items.
This page reads the live job changers, so the moment a class opens it moves from one table to the other here without anybody editing this page.
Figures on this page are read from the live server. Last checked 2 October 2026. Back to the wiki
