You need an account before you can play. It takes a minute and it is free.
Installing
- Extract the zip anywhere you like — Documents or a games folder is fine. Avoid Program Files, which needs administrator rights to patch.
- Run Ragnarok.exe. It downloads any updates and launches the game.
- Log in with the account you registered.
Already have the client? Extract the update into the same folder
as Ragexe.exe and choose to replace the files. Your characters,
settings and hotkeys are not touched.
If Something Goes Wrong
“Unregistered ID” when logging in
Your account is fine. That message means the client is older than the server expects — install the client update above and it will clear.
Your antivirus flags the download
Anti-cheat software hooks the game process, which some antivirus products flag on sight. If files are quarantined, restore them, add your game folder to the exclusions, and extract again.
A “trash” folder appears
Normal. The anti-cheat moves unused library files there on first launch. Nothing you need is inside it.
Changing screen size
Open dinput.ini in Notepad and set both WindowWidth
and WindowHeight. Leave them at 0 for the default. You can also
toggle windowed mode in game with /window.

This is a 2021-era client running Pre-Renewal content. It will run comfortably on hardware that struggles with modern games.
